Dear Friends and Fabric Lovers,
It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that my sister, ellen edith, passed away peacefully at home on May 15th.
She discovered hand quilting in her last months and was able to complete 4 wonderful quilt tops.
I am sorry but fabric, books and dvds are no longer available for purchase. If you have any questions, please contact me Kelly Hogan at kelhogan@mac.com
Thank you for your support over the years. ellen loved every chance she had to share her fabric and techniques and to encourage quilters everywhere.
You can share your feelings and remembrances in the comments area below.

I was deeply saddened to hear that Ellen is no longer with us. Her fabric and quilts were incredibly fun and imaginative. We’ll miss her!
ellen’s beautiful Deco Dreams fabric was chosen for a challenge we did for a Women’s Health Initiative and, when we could not find enough at out local shops, we contacted ellen. She sent us what we needed, plus many extra FQs to share! She told us the story of her health challenges; and we believe to this day that ellen’s fabric selected US for the project, not the other way around! May heaven be decorated with all her colors and talents!! Love to her family, Donna and Peg (Rochester NY)
Deepest Sympathy to all of Ellen Edith’s family. I was lucky to see her last summer and show her a vest I made with her Fabrics and won a ribbon. She was a wonderful lady and she will be missed. Kris
ellen edith and I spent so many crazy days doing The Rosen Wholesale shows of American Craft. She in her world me in my mine. We laughed so much! She influenced some MAJOR aspects of my life. She did so effortlessly because that’s who she was. Here’s a video I made with her in her home this past December: http://youtu.be/PpOOsTsbcjI
I am so sorry to hear this. She was a being of AMAZING LIGHT and LOVE.
Deep blessings to her family.
ellen was a special quilter who was able to share her joy in her stories and in her designs. Her colorful quilts let us know how full her life had been. We will miss her in our world of quilters, and quilt teachers. She was one of my very favorite guest lecturers and teachers at our guild, The Quilters’ SewCiety of Redding (California). She and her partner were a delight to be around – such joy and love. My sympathy goes out to her family and dear friends.
The quilting community has lost a bright, cheerful star. She was so much fun at our guild meeting. She will be missed but will be held in our hearts.

So sorry to hear of Ellen’s passing. I loved her bright, happy fabrics and her wonderful story quilts. My favorite refrigerator magnet is her “Piece on Earth”. Makes me smile every time I see it! Wishing Ellen’s whole family many happy memories of her life.
Rest in peace, Ellen. And thanks for sharing your quilt rod with the Pixeladies at NCQC. Your generosity and humor will stay with us.
Oh what a loss for all of us! Ellen was so special and cared so much for everyone, so willing to share and teach. I was lucky enough to have had several classes with her. She was so generous that she continued to talk with me about how I might put together a story quilt like she was so good at. She loved her family so much and has left you some wonderful legacies with her quilts showing how much you all meant to her. I’ll always remember her happy, bright and kind…. I’m remembering…. you must be the sister that had that donkey? She told us wonderful stories about you!

Thanks for your kind thoughts. Actually, I’m the sister who cut off her pig tail. We’ve been project buddies since we were little and always sewed.
I was saddened to hear of Ellen’s passing. She was a gift to the quilting world and we were fortunate to have had her as a guest of our guild. Her story quilts live on and we’re blessed because of her insights.
I received the email today and I am absolutely shocked and extremely saddened by this news. I first met Ellen Edith years ago at the Capitola Art & Wine Festival where I purchased a ton of her magnets. I went again another year and bought more and she was such a delight to chat with. (her magnets adorn my refrigerator to this day) I admired her story quilts so much, listened to a Podcast she did with stories of Mexico. I’ve been a fan ever since and hoped one day I’d get a chance to meet her and see her studio behind that fabulous garden gate. Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family. I guess the heavens have a bright new star now.
ellen, I miss your funny stories and helping you to share them with the world. I bring your laughter and love of bright colors with me everyday. Thank you for encouraging me to explore life to the fullest. Jesse
